Disability Rights
Prior to founding Elzie Law, Steve was a supervising attorney with Disability Rights Oregon. His work with DRO touched on areas of law including housing, employment, land use, and civil commitment.
Individuals with disabilities face visible and invisible barriers to full participation in society. Such individuals may need accommodations in employment such as working hours or location of work. Similar accommodations may be required in housing, both in landlord / tenant and construction matters - while with DRO, for example, Steve was willing to obtain a change in a zoning decision from the City of Portland based on disability-related needs.
Steve continues to be involved in community-based disability advocacy organizations, and is always happy to consult on disability-related issues.
